  • The Managing Partner

    Rothschild & Co Gestion is the Managing Partner (Gérant) of Rothschild & Co, responsible for the overall management of the Company, the Group's lead holding company. 

    This includes among other things, establishing the strategic direction of the business, supervising the accounting and financial information, and directing the internal control framework for Rothschild & Co and the Group entities on a consolidated basis.

    The Managing Partner relies on the Management Board (Conseil de Gérance) to fulfil its role.

    David de Rothschild has been in the business for over 40 years. In 1981, Banque Rothschild, the company originally founded by James de Rothschild in 1812 under the name De Rothschild Frères, was nationalised by the French government. A regrouping was led by David de Rothschild and his cousin, Baron Eric de Rothschild, and they finally secured the right to operate a new banking business under the family name in 1986.

    In 2012, David de Rothschild was appointed Chairman of Rothschild & Co Gestion. He is also Chairman of the board of directors of Rothschild Concordia, the family holding company owned by the French and English branches of the family and major shareholder of Rothschild & Co.

    David de Rothschild is a graduate from the Paris Institute of Political Science (« Sciences Po”).

    Alexandre de Rothschild joined the Rothschild & Co Group in 2008 to focus primarily on the establishment of the Merchant Banking division where he is currently Deputy Head and Head of Rothschild Private Investment. Before joining Rothschild & Co, Alexandre de Rothschild gained substantial experience in private equity and investment banking in London and New York with Bank of America and Bear Stearns respectively.

    In 2014, Alexandre de Rothschild joined the management board (“Conseil de gérance”) of Rothschild & Co Gestion of which he is now Deputy Chairman. He is also member of several boards within the Rothschild & Co Group and General Partner (“Associé-Gérant”) of the Rothschild & Cie Banque and Rothschild & Cie.

    Alexandre de Rothschild is a graduate from the École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur.

    Nigel Higgins Image

    Nigel Higgins

    Nigel Higgins joined the Rothschild & Co Group in 1982 at N M Rothschild & Sons Limited in London. During his 35 year career with the Group, Nigel Higgins has advised a broad range of international corporate clients on strategic M&A and equity financings. He has also undertaken a wide variety of privatisations and other government assignments principally in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Denmark.

    Since the mid 1990s he has held a number of senior positions within the Group, including as Head of TMT and Co-head of Global Financial Advisory. He is currently Managing Partner of Rothschild & Co Gestion and has been Co-Chairman of the Group Executive Committee since 2010.  

    Nigel Higgins is a graduate from Oxford University. Nigel is a non-executive director of the Tetra Laval Group, a member of the Trilateral Commission and chairman of Sadlers Wells in London.

    Managing Partner

    Marc-Olivier Laurent is Head of Rothschild Merchant Banking at Rothschild & Co, Chairman of the Investment Committees of each of the private debt and private equity funds of Merchant Banking and, since 2016, Managing Partner of Rothschild & Co Gestion. Marc-Olivier Laurent joined Rothschild in 1993 as a Managing Director and became a Partner in 1995.  At the same time, he served as a member of the Management Board of the investment arm of Rothschild & Co (formerly Paris Orléans), the Group's holding company.

    Prior to joining Rothschild, he headed the M&A, corporate finance and equity division of Crédit Commercial de France from 1984 to 1993. Between 1978 and 1984, Marc-Olivier was Investment Officer with the pioneer French development capital firm Institut de Développement Industriel (IDI).

    Marc-Olivier graduated from the HEC School of Management and holds a PhD in African Social Anthropology from the Université Paris Sorbonne.

    Marc-Olivier currently sits on the boards of Socotec, Inea and Caravelle.  Prior board appointments include Paprec, Manutan and Paris Orléans.

    Robert Leitão

    Robert is Head of Global Advisory at Rothschild & Co and, since 2016, Managing Partner of Rothschild & Co Gestion.  Robert's extensive experience is centred on public company M&A transactions and ranges from recommended deals to hostile offers and defences.  Although Robert has no specific specialisation he has been involved in a broad range of sectors including engineering, financial services, leisure, media, real estate, retail, telecommunications and transport. 

    Prior to joining Rothschild in 1998, Robert was at Morgan Grenfell & Co in London where he was appointed a Director in 1995.  He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co (KPMG) in 1987. 

    He has a degree in Applied Mathematics from Imperial College London. 

    Robert is also a Non-Executive Director of Manchester United plc and Chairman of The Pennies Foundation.

    Olivier Pécoux

    Managing Partner | Co-Chairman of the GEC

    Olivier Pécoux joined the Rothschild & Co Group in 1991 at Rothschild & Cie in Paris.  He has held a number of senior positions within the Group including Co-Head of the Group's healthcare advisory practice or Co-Head of European Investment Banking.

    During his time in the firm, Olivier Pécoux has advised a broad range of clients across sectors and geographies on some of the most complicated transactions.  Olivier is currently Managing Partner of Rothschild & Co Gestion, Chairman of Rothschild Global Advisory and General Partner (“Associé-Gérant”) of Rothschild & Cie Banque in France.  He is also Co-Chairman of the Rothschild & Co Global Executive Committee.  

    Olivier Pécoux is a graduate from the Paris Institute of Political Science (« Sciences Po”). He is also on the Board of Directors at Essilor International.

  • The Group Executive Committee

     

    The Group Executive Committee (GEC), whose members are the most senior corporate officers of the Group business and support divisions, is the senior executive committee at Rothschild & Co. In its role, the GEC participates in the overall management and the definition of the strategy of the Group by Rothschild & Co, represented by the Managing Partners and Deputy Chairman, so that Rothschild & Co ensures its proper implementation across the Group.
