We offer a Gap Year Programme to students who are taking a year off between school and university. We offer 6 month placements starting in September or March in our London Investment Banking Division and our London Information Centre.

You will be an integral part of a team primarily responsible for providing research and data to enable our Investment Bankers to formulate the advice and views they give clients and potential future clients of the bank. Some tasks you may undertake involve:

• searching for and downloading company documents
• maintaining an electronic library
• collating public information on companies for internal and client use
• a range of other tasks

You will begin your placement with a training programme involving networking, learning essential IT skills, and extensive training on a wide range of financial information systems and internet-based databases in order that you join your team equipped with the relevant skills.

Due to the nature of the work, preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a good awareness of, and interest in, current events in the financial and economic markets.  Some familiarity with using e-mail, the internet, word and spreadsheet packages is desirable for this role, and in addition good interpersonal and communications skills are a necessity.

This is an excellent opportunity to get a real overview of the workings of an Investment Bank and finance in general prior to embarking on your degree course.
