Generally, alternative investment strategies are those that attempt to generate returns while hedging primary market risks such as stock market or interest rate risks. These strategies seek to exploit mispricing and inefficiencies in global capital markets. In effect, the investor accepts the idiosyncratic or particular risk of an investment so long as it offers high risk-adjusted returns with low correlation to traditional asset classes.
